So my question is, how can I turn Defender on permanently? After a few minutes however, it went back to the screen as shown earlier, with Defender turned off. This did work for a few minutes after restarting, as all the options for real-time protection, cloud-based protection etc showed up and could be turned off or on. I searched around and eventually found 2 posts that said to use a bat script to turn Defender again, as found here: Unfortunately, Defender is still turned off: I uninstalled Avast using its uninstall utility: Īfterwards, I enabled Defender again in O&O ShutUp10 and restarted my pc. Alongside an antivirus software I use Malwarebytes. I had disabled Defender using O&O ShutUp10 to avoid conflicts between the two. I used to use Avast as my antivirus, but got tired of it so I wanted to go back to using Windows Defender.
